Previous reviewer was talking about seeing The weight on a TV show with Levon Helm (The Band's Drummer). Not sure about that but I called this tune immediately as I was told during the Albany run right before these shows that The Dead had sound checked The Weight.
Last time I heard that rumor it was a St. Stephen sound check (in '83). I didn't believe that one and missed my first MSG show in years and they played St. Stephen! Dooohh! At least I saw it in Hartford a week later. Not a great show but a decent one. Hate Looks Like Rain as a second set tune!

It Rainbow Spirals 'round and 'round...
In a way, in hindsight, this version of "The Other One" introduces us into the beginning of the legendary shows that are about to occur in the next two nights.
Of course, at the time we couldn't have known that...

A few nights before this show while I was in the motel watching tv Levon Helm appeared in some tv show which I can't remember what show it was ,but anyway there was a scene he was in and there was a jukebox playing "The Weight".Then the boys played it at this show.I could not help but to wonder if one of them saw that same show and got inspired to play it . I went to these shows and the Albany run. This show was great. That was probably the best 6 shows I ever saw in a row without a dud. hard to go wrong with any spring '90 shows.....

What a sound!
Rich and warm sound. Only levels are low, so turn volume up.
And the show doesn't need comment.
